Edinglassie Stable Block

Back to projects >>>
The stable block at Edinglassie in Strathdon, which is now utelised for other ventures, had its 350 square metres of old and boss render removed and replaced with a Hydraulic, lime putty, sand and aggregate mix. The new harl and texture was achieved by mechanically spraying the mortar on, in three different coats. Each course being left to cure under damp hessien before the next coating was applied. The final harl was then painted with a natural colour of lime wash, each of the 5 coats being burnished in by hand. The pink granite coins and surrounding stones were cleaned and re-pointed in a lime mortar.
